Orchids are known as ‘Queen of Flowers’. Whenever you enter a room filled with Orchids, you will realize why they have been given this name.

Growing orchids is not a very difficult work. They can be grown anywhere such as desert, swamp, Tundra, plains or even mountains depending upon the type of species of Orchid that you are planning to grow. There are more than 28,000 species of Orchid in the whole world. Orchids can also be grown in homes.

Each pod of an orchid contains thousands of seeds which get pollinated through the air. It is best to grow orchids in potting conditions during the first year as it requires symbiotic connection with fungus for them to survive.

Another important factor to note is that orchids are very delicate in nature and they have to be provided with an airy atmosphere and remain wet for more than a day or two. They need minimum 4 hours light to allow them to grow & bloom.

Orchids are found all over the world from hot tropical jungles to cold mountains. But they are not found in Antarctica. There are some types of orchid that are found in specific region. Mostly orchid are used to make beautiful bouquet with combination of other flowers. There are two types related to orchid. One type name is Terrestrial and other name is Epiphytes. These types have so much species included and each type grown in two ways. One way is Symbodial Orchids and second one is Monopodial Orchids.

An epiphyte (or air plant) is a plant that grows upon another plant (such as a tree) non-parasitically or sometimes upon some other object (such as a building or a telegraph wire), visitors insurance is essential to pay of huge medical expenses while travelling overseas, derives its moisture and nutrients from the air and rain and sometimes from debris accumulating around it, and is found in the temperate zone (as many mosses, liverworts, lichens and algae) and in the tropics (as many ferns, cacti, orchids, and bromeliads).

Epiphyte is one of the subdivisions of the Raunkiær system. The term most commonly refers to higher plants, but epiphytic bacteria, fungi (epiphytic fungi), algae, lichens, mosses, and ferns exist as well. The term epiphytic derives from the Greek epi- (meaning ‘upon’) and phyton (meaning ‘plant’). Epiphytic plants are sometimes called “air plants” because they do not root in soil. However, there are many aquatic species of algae, including seaweeds, that are epiphytes on other aquatic plants (seaweeds or aquatic angiosperms).

International travellers should buy visitors insurance travellingThe name is derived from the Greek word kumbos, meaning ‘hole, cavity’. It refers to the form of the base of the lip. The genus is abbreviated Cym in horticultural trade.

Cymbidium plants are sympodial and grow to a height of 60 cm and the racemes as high as 90 cm. The raceme grows from the base of the most recent pseudobulb. Each flower can have a diameter of 5 to 10 cm, according to the species. They bloom during the winter, and each plant can have up to fifteen or more flowers. The fantastic range of colors for this genus include white, green, yellowish-green, cream, yellow, brown, pink, and red [and orange] (and there may be markings of other color shades at the same time), but not blue and black. The flowers last about ten weeks. They have a waxy texture. The rounded sepals and petals have about the same dimensions. They show very diverse color patterns, different for every species.
